we’re back!

11 June 2008

Got back into the US yesterday. We have tons of updates to write about Barcelona, Cordoba, Granada, etc., but we’re a little busy selling ourselves on the street in order to pay for BOTH cars to be fixed. That’s right, we got home yesterday at around 10:30pm from a 24-hour trip (flight from Madrid to London, flight from London to Chicago, drive home from Chicago) having had about three hours of sleep in a 48-hour period, to find both of our cars broken. They are currently at the shop being worked on, and MC and I are stranded at a cafe (thank goodness there’s free wifi!) until one of them gets fixed.

We’ll be updating soon!

I went to the blog today, hopeful and out of habit. Lo and behold, an entry. We are all so programed to read about you that it is sad for all of us that your adventure has come to an end. Thank you for taking us along with you, laughing and keeping us in awesome magic of travel the whole time. xx

Dear Alioop and my favorite comedy writer – I’m so sad that this journey has come to an end – please keep us posted from time to time about your new home and new jobs…Uncle Geoffrey and I will miss our weekend reading of The World According to Conison. Al honey, I know they were singing to you – let’s get real here why on earth would they be singing to some has been comedy writer who’s passed out when there is this beautiful blonde gorgeous hot neice of mine to look at? See how soon they forget MC – you are only as good as your last piece (meaning article) dear nephew. Some day you will have so much money you won’t know what to do with it MC and you can return on a first class trip with your bride but it won’t be anything like this one – this you two will have the rest of your lives. – Shalom – your Israeli Aunt Carol

welcome home– just so you know, I’m going to expect the same high level of wild blogging just as if you were still in Spain with jaunts to Portugal– but I’ll give you a few days to get over the pain of the car issues, obvs . .

Well played, team Conison. You are an inspiration to aging creatives like me, held captive by childcare and other home bound duties …alas, the ravages of which leave me far too few resources to run off on jaunty foreign escapades.

MC? Don’t quit your day job (once you find one that is…) I put in a good word for you. However, those astute enough to be unfazed by your circumlocutory self-promotion have begun to telephone me for “references.” I tried to corroborate your stories, really I did, but given their inherent hyperbole, one can only do so much…you dig? And no…um…no calls from VSA or from Thirst…curious, eh?

Al? Since you are imminently more employable, please continue to take care of dear MC in the style to which he has become accustomed across the pond, as it were.

As for the cars? They will mend, but really, who needs them settling as you are in a world-class city with proper public transportation.

Uh… when you said you’d be updting “soon,” was that some kind of Spanish word for “never?”

I promise we’re coming back! This “finding a job” and “having no home” crap is such a pain….
